Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid period, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced service.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
Moutet defended four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, he earned the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
